We were looking pretty stylish, and then the Germans showed up

Tiny, yes, but cool, definitely. Expect Delays did actually attract some positive attention at the Flying J RV and truck stop in St. Augustine Florida, which was somewhat surprising considering we were surrounded by many, many, HUGE and professional looking RV’s and motor homes. FYI, for anyone seeking some sweet boondocking spots, the St. Augustine Flying J is the crème de la crème of truck stops. It is also very noticeably the permanent winter location for many snow birds who pack up and head south and relocate for the colder months on the blacktop at this Flying J. It may not have much of a scenic view other than the 24 hour Denny’s and the highway, but every morning the snow birds would wake up early, put on their matching windbreakers and jogging suits, walk their beagles around the parking lot and say things like “Howdy, Kiddo,” or “Good morning, Doll.” And frankly, we loved it.

On our last night at the Flying J the German Mobile showed up, looking cooler than anything we had ever seen before, and while we tried to sneak around to get a glimpse inside, no such luck. We do know, however, that whatever they had in there, it must have been cool. It’s hard to tell from the photo, but that vehicle is serious. It’s about the size of a city trash truck, if someone installed a lift kit on a city trash truck. It could easily have run over Expect Delays and mistaken it for a pothole. We were a little jealous, but Expect Delays, we love you still.
